Help answer the question about diet
Does a low carb diet lower the amount of good bacteria in your gut?If I go on a low carb diet, will it lower the amount of good bacteria in my gut?
Also, if I take probiotics, will they be able to be sustained in my gut on a low carb diet or will the probiotics be ineffective in providing benefits if I am on a low carb diet?
Thanks.

im almost 30, looking more like 24. I have never been in a gym, hospital (not even dentist at this age), nor im an active sportsman. I avoid all frozed foods, fast food places, pizzas, and sandwiches. Im into soups, more liquid meals, and plenty of vegetables and fruits. Avoid fried food, boil and steam more.. I eat everything but prefer to prepare at home and avoid restaurant foods. You will never get the same taste if you eat out and cook home the same meal. Why? as a former chef i could tell you there is so many little gimmicks that chefs make to prolong life of food, and be ready to easily furnish an order when a customer walks in. Easy to them, not so real to us.
10x for the share. I will try this
Hi!
Have you ever heard about "Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet"? Reading about it makes you wonder if they might not be on to something. The way the diet works is different than other fad diets that involve cutting out certain types of food like low carbohydrates, low fat or low calorie. Instead it uses calorie shifting foods that you would normally eat, increases the number of times you eat, and changes when you eat certain things for fast fat loss.
What is Calorie Shifting?
The way calorie shifting works involves tricking the fat hormones that are sent out by the brain. Every time you eat something, your brain sends out fat storing and fat burning hormones, depending on what the item is.
The idea is to send more fat burning than fat storing hormones, so that the body does not hold onto the fat for later use. If you keep confusing the metabolism, you will see fast fat loss, as much as 9 pounds in 11 days, that is the first weightloss principle of Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet.
How Does The Metabolism Control Weightloss?
This scientific weight control fact about the metabolism and how it works stems from our ancestry as cavemen, when there were famine periods between hunts. The body would store and hold onto fat for survival. The metabolism has not evolved from this self-defense tactic and doesn't realize we can just run to the grocery store and get whatever we want.
On restrictive diets, weightloss can plateau when the metabolism thinks it is experiencing a famine period, and it will only burn what is taken in. Even on some of the popular low carbohydrate diets, it is advised to eat pizza for two days when your weight plateaus to get the metabolism going.
Why Do Some Weightloss Diets Leave You With No Energy?
The only problem with many of these restrictive weightloss diets is the metabolism goes back to only burning what you take in and many people complain about being tired and worn down, when it is mainly the metabolism storing up the energy for later.
By eating healthy, nutritious foods that are fat burning, the metabolism burns as much energy as you need. Many people on restrictive weightloss diets will regain the weight when they go back to eating normal foods.
What Is The Best Diet For Weightloss?
The best weight control diet allows you to eat the foods that you would normally eat, have in your refrigerator and cabinets. By timing when you eat certain foods, how many times a day you eat them, and balancing the types of food, your metabolism will burn what you take in and then some, because it knows you will be feeding it again shortly, instead of starving.
Prepackaged fat loss products and frozen dinners are not something you can live on the rest of your live. You need to understand the basics of natural weight control, and Fat Loss 4 Idiots Diet uses the fundamental principles of controlling the metabolism with calorie shifting normal foods you eat every day.
Check my source, it might help. It's a diet that works. Good luck!
No problem with it…
All you need now is to be on diet and to Lose 10 lbs is always possible.
You need to consume a balance diet plan foods which are made up of:
i. Lean proteins,
ii. Fruit and vegetables, and
iii. Sources of fat come from whole foods (such as cottage cheese or eggs).
iv. Starchy carbohydrates (such as oats and pasta).
Divide your meals into 4 and that should be eaten at a minimum of 2 1/2 hours apart.
There is no calorie or carb counting, no limit on portion size, so eat until you feel your stomach is OK.
You can lose 10 lbs within a week with this diet plans, which consists of 2 type:-
1. Online Diet Generator – If you want to lose weight MORE QUICKLY. It generates your menu in just seconds.
2. 10 Weight Loss Rules- If you would rather lose weight more "casually" (without having to follow a specific diet) then the second weight loss program which is a collection of which you can use to lose weight in a much more "casual" way.
To lose weight you need to manipulate which types of calories enter your body at each meal.
The first thing you must do is learn the 3 types of calories, and which calories are in each type of food that you eat.
Some of sample foods made of Protein and Carbs (Carbohydrates) are :-
PROTEIN FOODS
* Lean Roast Beef
* Cottage Cheese (low fat)
* Eggs (scrambled, hard-boiled)
* Broiled Flounder (non breaded)
CARBS(Carbohydrates) FOODS
* Mixed Salad (only lettuce, tomatoes, and
veggies allowed)
* Dressing should be Low Cal dressing. Use sparingly,
you should not smother the salad with too much
dressing.
* Bread (should be "oat" or "bran" type bread
only)
* Mixed Vegetables (fresh or frozen)
* Fresh Apples
All you need is just rotate this Protein and Carbohydrate meals for One week and you will lose 10 lbs within that.
You need to maintain your diet and eat for rest of your life the food you like. To maintain your new slim body you will have the list of some general "rules". These rules are meant to be "general" and "simple" because you can easily maintain your new body by just using a the simple and general rules.
For example, the rule about breaking up your daily food intake into 4 meals may "seem" simple, but it can control how slim you stay in the future.
You will be also presented with rules about what to avoid when grocery shopping, how to order food at restaurants, and how to order at fast food establishments.
The late night eating habit and other non-healthy eating habits also been tackled.
These rules are ""simple sounding"" but they are enough to maintain your new body for the rest of your life.
See the sample rotation of the meals and get more info on the diet plans at http://www.squidoo.com/Lose-10lbs-AWeek
I hope this will help you to lose weight and the most important without any harmful diet pills.
Weight watchers programs all have adjustments for nursing moms and are one of the most effective "diets" out there because you eat your own food and the support meetings.
Curves also seems to be effective at motivating women to exercise.

Yes! Nursing mothers can lose weight safely if they follow some basic guidelines.
Six guidelines for safe dieting during lactation
Wait until your baby is two months old before dieting
It's best not to do anything consciously to lose weight until after the second month. This gives your body enough time to successfully establish a healthy milk supply that is less likely to be adversely affected if your caloric intake is restricted. Breastfeeding your baby, on average, burns 200-500 calories per day (above what you needed to maintain your pre-pregnancy weight) — so keep in mind that even without a weight loss program you are burning extra calories.
Breastfeed without restriction
Research tells us that both more frequent breastfeeding and breastfeeding longer than six months increases maternal weight loss.
Eat at least 1500-1800 calories per day
While nursing, you should not consume less than 1500-1800 calories per day, and most women should stay at the high end of this range. Some mothers will require much more than this, but studies show that going below this number may put supply at risk.
Keep weight loss at less than 1.5 pounds per week
Most moms can safely lose up to 1.5 pounds per week or 6 pounds per month after the second month and not affect milk supply or baby's well being. One study has suggested that short-term weight loss of 2.2 pounds (1 kg) per week is not a problem (in this study, moms dieted for 11 days).
Decrease the calories gradually
A sudden drop in calories can reduce milk supply. Some moms notice this during an illness, although dehydration and/or medication use could also be a factor in reduced milk supply when mom is sick. It has been hypothesized that a sudden calorie decrease can cause mom's body to go into "starvation mode" and cut nonessential resources such as milk production.
Avoid quick-fix solutions
Liquid diets, low-carb diets, fad diets, weight loss medication, etc. are not recommended while breastfeeding.
What might happen if a nursing mother loses weight too quickly?
* In most instances of too-rapid weight loss, it is not the breastmilk (composition or supply) that would suffer, but mom's nutrition and/or health.
* Excessive dieting can result in a reduced milk supply.
* According to Breastfeeding and Human Lactation (3rd Edition, Riordan, pp 440), it is noted that fad or rapid weight loss programs should be avoided because fat-soluble environmental contaminants and toxins stored in body fat are released into the milk when caloric intake is severely restricted. I was unable to find a definition of "severely restricted" but I expect that it is significantly under 1500 calories per day (which they called a "modest intake"). I've included information on a study on this subject below. See also the info at this website regarding environmental contaminants and breastfeeding.
Three great tips for weight loss (whether you are nursing or not)
Make dietary changes — decrease your fat intake to 20-25% or less of total calories; keep your protein intake up to prevent loss of muscle mass (Recommended Intake of protein for nursing mothers is 65 grams/day for the first 6 months and 62 grams/day between 6 and 12 months).
Spread your calorie intake out — instead of 2-3 meals, eat 3 smaller meals with snacks between. Your body will be less likely to go into "starvation mode" if you are eating small amounts throughout the day.
Exercise moderately so that you burn more fat while keeping lean muscle mass. Resistance/weight training is a good way to build muscle mass. A person with more muscle mass burns more calories, even when resting.
Specific weight loss methods
Weight Watchers, Body for Life
Weight Watchers and Body for Life are generally considered to be fine for breastfeeding mothers. Weight Watchers has a program specifically aimed at nursing mothers. As always, avoid cutting calories too abruptly or losing weight too quickly.
How to diet lose weight fast or so is a dominant question that is very much relevant for overweight and obese people.
Here are some tips :
- Losing weight can be about going to the gym and train for 2 1/2 hours with a reduced calorie diet for some people. Before you start to lose your weight, the first thing you should to consider is to start conditioning your system so that it is ready to undergo the changes that you'll put it through in your diet program.
- To make more efficiently and lose your weight faster is you have to speed up your metabolism. You can start by eating some juices or grapes everyday. It can make your blood circulation run quicker around your body and detoxify your system.
- Drinking six to eight glasses of water a day will clean your system inside out. Make you younger than before and refresh your body. The other benefit of drinking water is can eliminating hunger cravings.
- Many ways to lose weight fast such as change your eating habit to remove red meat from your diet and replace it with chicken or fish. You will get the result pretty fast and you can combined with regular physical exercises at least three times a week. Fruits and vegetables, drinking green tea a day can burn your calories about 60 to 80 calories.
- When you are in diet program there are tendency that our body lose many proteins, carbohydrates or fiber which it can't replace by your daily meal. We need some supplements. But remember you should be careful when choosing the best diet supplement.
Diet, and work-out at the gym. Avoid soda, as much as possible and ear fruit daily. Most guys with 6 pack abs, don't drink soda. You need to drink alot of water, and fruit to stay fit. Watch your calorie intake, and limit sugar as much as possible. Fish and chicken should always be in your diet (if you dont have alergies to fish).
Get a gym membership, only working-out at home will let you see results alot slower. At home, do crunches, push-ups, and sit-ups. At the gym do 15-35 minutes of cardio, work your upper body strenght. Cardio has been said to help lose fat, all over the body.
You just have to take it one day at a time, and don't give up! It takes a while to lose weight, but in the end, it's worth it. Trust me, if losing weight was easy, we'd all be thin. You're going to have to be committed to this goal.
DO NOT starve yourself by going on a crash diet. It doesn't work, believe me! Sure, you lose weight, but you also lose hair and your ability to have kids in the future. Then once you do actually eat something, it turns directly to FAT because your body is trying desperately to store excess calories & food for energy because it thinks that its starving – And you end up gaining everything you lost, and then some!
Try eating more fruits and veggies in place of other fatty meals, like junk food, cookies, or high calorie meals. Like most people (I'm guilty sometimes!), you've probably brainwashed yourself into thinking that fast food tastes better than healthy food, but that's not entirely true! Try eating more grapes, clemintines, apples chunks in vanilla yogurt (good for sweet cravings!), blueberries, hummus (it sounds gross but it's really not, especially with Wheat Thins or Food Should Taste Good brand whole grain chips! I personally like garden vegetable or tomato flavored), granola, low-fat yogurt, low-fat string cheese, LITE brand whole wheat bread, 100 – calorie popcorn / kettle corn bags, steamed broccoli with a buttery garlic sauce, microwavable veggies etc. I also snack on South Beach Diet oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, they're good AND pretty healthy!
And eat SLOWLY. Take one bite at a time, chew completely, then take another bite. If you eat slower, you'll become fuller quicker, and you won't overeat. Drink a glass of water before each meal – You'll feel fuller faster and won't overindulge. Try to spread your meals out so that you're eating 5-6 smaller meals throughout the day – It keeps your metabolism up to speed. Try bringing a sandwich or a bag of fruits with you to class, or eat in between classes at your locker.
Incorporate more exercise into your daily life. Take the dog for a 20 minute walk, do jumping jacks while watching TV, do laps around the block, or the house for that matter. Don't let yourself sit down for too long. If you can, get a gym membership. I use an elliptical for 30 minutes 5-6 times a week and it works great for me.
And don't eat out of boredom! It's a nasty habit to break, TRUST ME. Whenever you feel like eating, watch a movie with no commercial breaks so you don't have time to get up, call a friend, read a book or magazine, or get out of the house, away from the food.
And don't "DIET". Because the moment you go off your "diet", you'll regain the all the weight you lost quickly, believe me. Instead, make "healthy living choices."
I recently lost weight, about 20 lbs, and what really helped for me was planning my meals. I planned when and what I was going to eat, and made sure the calorie count was 1400. But never go under 1200! Remember, healthy weight loss is about 2-3 lbs a week. Whatever you do, don't let yourself stray from your plan. Write it all down or type it out and leave it up on your computer so you don't forget, that's what I do.
You'll never get to your "ideal" body by eating crap food and sitting around, no matter how much you want it to happen. It takes dedication to get the body you want! Make it like a game. How much weight can I lose? Prove it to yourself you DO have the willpower to get what you want.
But allow yourself a cheat day every now and then. Life is too short! If you restrict your body of all the "good foods", you will one day EXPLODE and eat everything in sight. Trust me!
One more thing: Once you do become thinner, DON'T think you can eat whatever you want now! You'll regain all the weight back, which is absolutely mortifying, especially after all the hard work to lose it.
Good luck! Hope that helps (:
OH, and sitting up straight burns more calories than slouching. Try it!

Processed foods are loaded with all kinds of different salts, as you've found out.
Any diet that makes you lose weight will also make your bloodpressure go down as you do.
Dark chocolate (min 70% cocoa) also has some unique ingredients that lower bloodpressure, but you have to take the calories into account.
You don't have to cook much. Cook big stuff when you do cook, and cook it without salt. Then throw it in some tupperware and in the fridge or freezer. Keep in mind that you do require SOME salt – but not much.
avoid adding salt totally from your food and eat a salt less food for one month and you will see that you have lost weight without losing your health because without the additional salt the fat cannot accumilate in your body and the natural salt found in the vegetables is enough for your good health.
